Fabric Plan
One batch makes four trim-friendly units; trim to the listed unfinished size. Yardage uses entered usable WOF and rounds up to the next quarter yard. Optionally buy 5–10% extra.
Make Four at a Time
Use one large Goose square and four small Sky squares for each batch. The pieces are intentionally a little larger, so you can trim the finished units accurately.

How This Plan Works
This calculator uses one method: oversized Flying Geese made four at a time. Cut one Goose-fabric square and four Sky-fabric squares for each batch, then trim for accuracy.
View assumptions
- The unit is the standard 2:1 proportion: width is twice the finished height.
- Cutting sizes use the locked oversized formula: finished width + 1 1/2 in for the Goose square and finished height + 1 1/8 in for each Sky square.
- Trim each unit to the listed unfinished size before piecing it into your quilt.
- Yardage uses the usable WOF you enter, then rounds buying amounts up to the next quarter yard.
FAQ
Each oversized four-at-a-time batch makes four matching Flying Geese units.
Finished size is the size visible after the unit is sewn into a quilt. The unfinished size is 1/2 inch larger in both directions for seam allowance.
This method makes four units at a time, so a requested quantity that is not divisible by four is rounded up to complete batches.
